Fortinet Enhances SASE Solution to Address Ghost Computing and Data Exfiltration Challenges

Fortinet extends networking and security convergence to remote users with enhancements to its single-vendor SASE solution.

According to Gartner, “Single-vendor SASE delivers converged networking and security capabilities to connect and secure distributed users, devices, and locations to cloud, edge, and on-premises resources.” It has established itself as a key architecture for securing remote users and ensuring a consistent user experience. In fact, Gartner predicts that “by 2025, one-third of new SASE deployments will be based on a single-vendor SASE offering, up from 10% in 2022.”

Fortinet has been recognized by Gartner as a Representative Vendor in the first “Market Guide for Single-Vendor SASE”. Fortinet’s FortiSASE solution consolidates point products by seamlessly converging cloud networking (SD-WAN) and cloud security (SSE consisting of secure web gateway, Universal ZTNA [zero trust network access]cloud access security broker [CASB]and Firewall-as-a-Service) through a single operating system (FortiOS) and single agent, with AI and ML layered to increase operational efficiency.

In addition to enabling secure Internet access that is not only fast but ensures consistent security for all user traffic to and from the Internet, FortiSASE’s latest enhancements add additional support for the use cases of the secure private access and secure SaaS access:

Secure private access

Building on its success in delivering network and security convergence to the edge of more than 20,000 customers via Fortinet Secure SD-WAN, Fortinet is now extending this convergence to remote users via cloud-delivered SD-WAN connectivity in FortiSASE. This extends Fortinet’s existing ability to provide granular application access with Fortinet Universal ZTNA by adding broader application access with SD-WAN to support the most comprehensive set of private applications running in the data center. or the public cloud, while ensuring a superior user experience. This enhancement makes FortiSASE the industry’s most flexible architecture for secure and reliable access to privately hosted applications by leveraging both ZTNA and SD-WAN.

With this news, organizations that have already deployed Fortinet Secure SD-WAN and/or FortiGate Next-Generation Firewalls in the branch office or data center can seamlessly connect their remote users to FortiSASE for private access without the need for an additional license.

Secure SaaS access

FortiSASE provides complete visibility and control for SaaS applications, now enhanced with next-generation dual-mode CASB. By leveraging both online and API-based support, FortiSASE provides complete visibility into sanctioned and unsanctioned applications to address the challenges of shadow computing and data exfiltration.

“Fortinet offers the most integrated single-vendor SASE solution available, unique converged networking and industry-leading security unified by a single operating system. The latest cloud-delivered enhancements to FortiSASE further strengthen our ability to deliver consistent security and user experience regardless of where users and applications are distributed,” said John Maddison, EVP of Products and CMO.
